Shirley Harrington

Shirley Ann Harrington, 57, of Raeford, died Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Survivors are: Husband, Emanuel; daughters, Tychenna, Cortesha and Cicely; son, Traven; mother, Bertha; brothers, Raymond Jr., Willie Sr., David and Charles; and two grandsons.
The funeral will be held Friday, Mar. 30 at 1 p.m. in St. James United Church of God. Burial will be in McKoy family cemetery in Red Springs.

Tommy C. Brown Sr.

Tommy Charles Brown, Sr., of TC Jones Road died Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 35.
He was born in Texas to the late Jeff Brown and Joyce Brown on December 4, 1976. He was a loving father and fiancé to Thalia Mook, and will be missed by all that knew him.
Survivors are his mother Joyce Brown; a son, Tommy Charles Brown, Jr.; three brothers, Jeff Brown III, Robert Earl Brown, and Christopher Charleston; and a sister Joyce Ann Brown.
The funeral will be shared with his fiancé, Thalia Mook on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 5:00 PM at LaFayette Funeral Home Chapel, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Thalia Mook

Thalia Mook, of TC Jones Road died Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 35.
She was born in Honolulu, HI to Mr. Logan Hose and Mrs. Jamie Lee Mook on December 22, 1976. She was preceded in death by her fiancé, Tommy Charles Brown, Sr. She was a loving mother and one who was a mother to the community.
Survivors are her father, Logan Hose; her mother, Jamie Ramos; and step-father Jorge Ramos; a son, Tommy Brown, Jr.; two brothers, Logan Mook, John Anthony Ramirez, III; and a sister Jennifer Nicole Leticia Ramirez.

James Fairley

James H. Fairley, 82, of Raeford, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012.
Survivors are: wife, Mae; children, Mary, Drusilla, Algunia, Valerie, Andrea, Henry, Marshall, Freddie, Jonathan, Dallas and Jessie.
The funeral was held Sunday, Mar. 25 at 3 p.m. in Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Raeford. Burial was in Rockfish Grove FWB Church cemetery.

 




Angelia K. Myers

Angelia Kay Borg Myers, loving daughter of Glen Borg and Dorothy Osborne Borg, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 in her home at the age of 56.
She is survived by her parents; three daughters, Natasha Hughes, Nakia Edmund Bernier, and Samantha Probus; four brothers, Richard Borg, James Michael Borg, Tony Borg, Johnny Borg; a sister, Shirley Borg; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31st at New Life Baptist Church, 6501 Camden Road, Hope Mills, NC 28306.

Sara Coker

Sara Gulledge Coker, 74, of Raeford, died Friday, March 23, 2012.
Mrs. Coker was born in Raeford to the late Jesse and Rosa Smith Gulledge.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the John Ropp Hall at Raeford Presbyterian Church. A memorial service  will be held at the Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. James Braden officiating.

Katie Ray Odom, 86, of Salisbury passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012. There will be a graveside service at City Cemetery in Raeford on Saturday, March 31 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Tom Lee, pastor of First Baptist Church in Raeford.

Charlie A. Pendergrass

Charlie A. Pendergrass, age 86 of 2597 Pendergrass Road, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 in his home.
He was born in Hoke County on August 24, 1925, to the late John Marshall and Maude Mae Pratt Pendergrass. He was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was also a member of the West Hoke Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Production Credit Board for 22 years, the Lumbee Electric board for nine years, and was director for the Hoke County Farm Bureau for over five years and served on several committees with the Agriculture Department. He was a dedicated farmer in Hoke County before he retired. His hobbies were flying his family in his airplane, family outings and quail hunting.
Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Lucille Nixon Pendergrass of Raeford; three daughters, Janice P. Creekmore and her husband Grafton of Raeford, Dianne P. McCallum and her husband Edward of Statesboro, Georgia. and Wanda P. Nobles and her husband Garland of Wagram; seven grandchildren, Kim Kitchens and her husband David, Andy Bullock and his wife Chrissie, Kristyn Beck and her husband Heath, Dana Pepe and her husband Frank, Trad Walters and his wife Nonie, Waylon Nobles and Natalie Nobles; seven great-grandchildren, Chasity Bullock, Mellie Kitchens, Lauryn Beck, Samuel Beck, Nadia Walters, Zara Walters and Frank Pepe Jr.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Hannah and the Rev. Ladd Brealey officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Carl V. Cook

Dateline: Lexington, SC

Carl Vernon "Bud" Cook, of Lexington, South Carolina, formerly of Fayetteville, died Friday, March 23, 2012 in Lexington Medical Center Extended Care at the age of 84.
He was born May 19, 1927 in Cumberland County to the late William Blackman Cook and Bonnie Carbell Lunsford Cook.
Survivors include five sisters, Phillis Davis of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Margie Sandy of Raeford, Carol Lloyd and her husband John of Swansea, South Carolina, Peggy Currie of Stedman, and Bonnie Jones and her husband Vester of Fackler, Alabama.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joel Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Zephree Dobbins Jr., 65, of Raeford, died Thursday, March 15, 2012.

Vickie Richards, 64 of Fayetteville, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center of Fayetteville.
Survivors are: husband, Charles of Rockfish; daughters, Debra Bolton and Katherin Coax of Rockfish; step-son, Adam Richards of Rockfish; step-daughter, Jennifer Richards of Pennsylvania;  10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gregory Bozeman

Gregory Jay Bozeman, 53, of Raeford, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 in his home.
He was born on February 10, 1959, in Spaulding County, Georgia, to Jimmie Bozeman and Ophelia Armistead Bozeman.   He was employed with Arnold Service Company.
He was preceded in death by his father Jimmie Bozeman.
Survivors are: son, John Bozeman, and his wife Michele, of Niceville, Florida; daughter, Sara Bozeman, of Fayetteville; mother, Ophelia Bozeman, of Fayetteville; brother, Tom Bozeman, of Fayetteville; and sister, Belinda Adams, of Knoxville, TN.
The visitation will be held Thursday, March 15, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. 
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Nicholas Smith officiating.

Worthy Patterson

Worthy Jefferson Patterson, 96, of 1526 McBryde Mill Road, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Survivors are: daughter, Annie Pleasant; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Saturday, Mar. 10 at  2 p.m. in Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

 




Willie Lee Roper

Willie Lee Roper, 92, of Raeford, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Survivors are: children, Annie, Mary Davis, Ruth Armstrong, Betsy Harris, Jennie, Frances Ballard, Doris, Herbert and David; and siblings, Myrtle Sinclair, Margaret Smith, John McNeill, Curtis Smith, Clifton Smith and Rufus Smith.
The funeral was held Sunday, Mar. 11 at 2 p.m. in Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

June C. Spera

June Connell Spera of 316 E., Donaldson Avenue, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the age of 77.
She was born in Union County, North Carolina on March 8, 1935 to the late Charlie Jackson Connell and Amanda Lou Conder Connell. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin Richard Spera. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Raeford.
Survivors include two sons, Val Spera of Raeford and Richard Spera and his wife Debra of Cross, South Carolina; two brothers, Dale Connell and his wife Mazelle and Tom Connell and his wife Doreen all od Raeford; three grandchildren Kimberly Spera, Arron Spera and his wife Claire and Benjamin and his wife Kelly; and two great grandchildren, Cayden and Matthew Spera.
The family will receive relatives and friends 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at the home 316 East Donaldson Ave. Raeford.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Lee officiating.
