Ella Lee Lockamy

Ella Lee Lockamy, affectionately known as "Bo Peep" passed away at the age of 90 on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

She was born in Cumberland County on July 27, 1926 to the late Dewey Lee and Verda Barefoot Lee. Her husband, James "Bill" Rosser Lockamy, and her son, James "Jimmy" Lockamy, her daughter, Ella "Lib" Jenkins preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville. She had a passion for gardening and truly loved being outdoors. More often than not, you found her walking barefoot when outside. While she loved being outside, her greatest love was her family. She was a beloved, dedicated wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great grandmother. Children of all ages brought her so much pleasure and were a light in her life.

She is survived by her son, J. D. Lockamy and his wife, Linda of Fayetteville; her daughter-in-law, Faye Lockamy of Fayetteville; her son-in-law Lent Jenkins of Fayetteville; her brothers, Howard Lee of Hope Mills, and Albert Lee and his wife, Pat of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Ray Jenkins and his wife, Winnie, Kenneth Lockamy and his wife, Jamie, Christopher Lockamy and his wife, Crystal, and Gregory Crist and his wife, Tracey; six great-grandchildren, Zachary Jenkins, Cora Lockamy, James Lockamy, Bradley Crist and Jessica Matthews, Daniel Shipp; and one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Shipp.

A visitation will be at Galatia Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, December 12 from 1-2 p.m.  with the funeral following at 2 in the sanctuary with with CRE Brett Johnson and QRE Herman Autry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Harold Coach

Harold Gustav Coach of Lumber Bridge passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 in Southeastern Regional Medical Center at the age of 68.

He was born in Germany on August 24, 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the owner and operator of Coach and Son Military Surplus in Lumber Bridge. He was a collector of military memorabilia and enjoyed watching westerns and war movies.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Paula W. Coach of Lumber Bridge; his son, Johnny L. Coach (Megan) of Lumber Bridge; his daughters, Andrea Koch of Germany, and Jeannette Ullmann-Lopez (Uwe) of Germany; his brother, William Rossano (Pat) of Linden; his sister, Lucy R. Carr (Jim) of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Vivian Lopez-Stith of Germany, Johnny L. Coach Jr. of Lumber Bridge, and Lyla Marie Coach of Lumber Bridge; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey Lopez-Stith and Leo Lopez-Stith.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13 at Rockfish Church of God, 7869 Rockfish Road, Raeford with Pastor Gary W. Leviner Jr. officiating.

A time for visiting will be held at the family's home prior to and after the service.

 

Margaret Taylor

Margaret Elizabeth Taylor, 69, of Bladenboro passed away Friday, November 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ethel Tyson; a sister, Faye Robeson; and brothers, J.L. Tyson and Barney Tyson.

 Survivors include a sister, Nora Lee Hinson of Shallotte; and brothers William Tyson of Bladenboro, and Junior Tyson of Whiteville

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 1-1:45 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Miller officiating. Burial will be held in Taylor Cemetery in Lumberton.

Richard Taylor

Richard Lee Taylor, 72, of Bladenboro passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Rosa Taylor; wife, Margaret Taylor; and sister, Margie Baxley.

Survivors include his brother, Billy Ray Taylor and wife Mary; sisters, Rosa Lee McLean, Frances Bailey and husband James, Patricia Campbell, Velma Davis and husband Mac, Annette Hendrix.

Flora W. Reynods

Flora Louise Wood Reynolds, 90, of Rockfish passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016.

She was born January 3, 1926 to the late Thaddeus Graham Wood and Flora Margaret Monroe Wood. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Cecil Reynolds, sisters Lela W. McInnis, Hazel W. Smith, Margaret W. Newton, and James Wood.

She was a lifelong member of Galatia Presbyterian Church and a recipient of the Presbyterian Women's Honorary Life Membership on October 27, 1996. She was employed by the Department of the Air Force, PopeAFB, for 28 Years. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her son, James Michael Reynolds and wife Vickie; daughter, Martha Parks and husband Ray; grandchildren Elizabeth P. Williams and husband Rusty, Tony Reynolds and wife Darby, Melissa Parks, Chris Reynolds and wife Liz, Jennifer P. Rezeli and husband Luke; and great-grandchildren, Austin Reynolds, Hailey Reynolds, Abby Williams, Ryan Williams and Lauren Reynolds.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Galatia Presbyterian Church with a funeral following at 2 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Kay L. McMillian

Kay Lentz McMillian of Raeford, passed away Friday evening, November 18, 2016 at the age of 58.

She was born March 7, 1958 in Moore County to the late William Thomas Lentz and Aline E. Daniels. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Raeford Presbyterian Church. She retired in 2015 from Hoke County Department of Social Services, were she worked as an administrator.

She is survived by her husband Smokey McMillian of Raeford; daughters Joli M. Blanks and her husband Tim of Monroe, and Anna M. McMillian of Santa Fe, New Mexico; grandchildren Everett Ray Blanks and Aline Louise Blanks; brother, William Thomas Lentz, Jr. and his wife Helen of Raeford; and sister Elizabeth Jean Smith of Raeford.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday November 21 at Crumpler Funeral, 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at the Raeford Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Smith officiating.

Frances Conoly

Frances Elizabeth Hanner Conoly, 71, of Germanton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2016, at Priddy Manor Assisted Living in King after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1945, in Lee County, North Carolina. She attended high school in Raeford. She worked as a customer service representative in the banking industry until her retirement. She was an avid quilter. She was a strong woman who survived two bank robberies when she was a teller, including one in which a robber placed a bomb in front of her. She didn't think it was really a bomb, but she gave the robber a bag of money that exploded with red dye as soon as he left the bank, and she ran to lock the door behind him. She also dealt bravely with Alzheimer's disease and bone marrow cancer.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Ann Griffin, and her parents, Robert Neil Hanner and Billie Reaves Hanner. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald Neill Conoly; sons Kenneth Neill Conoly and wife Peggy of Carolina Beach, Jeffrey David Conoly and wife Regina of Chester, Virginia, and Jason Paul Conoly and wife Amy of Florence, South Carolina; brother Scott Hanner of Wake Forest; grandchildren Stephanie Groger and husband Jimmy, Crystal Lamb, David Conoly and wife Lindsey, and Samantha Conoly; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Lily and Reiley Groger, Gavin and Chloe Lamb, and Braydon, McKenna and Landon Conoly.

Barbara Warlick Lawrence

Barbara Warlick Lawrence, 78, of Wilson, passed away Thursday with her daughters by her side.  

She was born May 2, 1938, and grew up in Raeford. She graduated from Wake Forest University and taught high school English upon graduation. She had two daughters with her first husband Richard Johnston, and stayed home to raise her family in Wilson. She then became a librarian with the Wilson Library which furthered her love of reading. She was fortunate later in life to marry the love of her life, Pete. She especially enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Pete. She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother. She was the ultimate caregiver for her entire family.  She will also be missed by her golf friends, her bridge friends, her high school friends and her church friends. 

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Johnston Thomas and husband, John G. of Charlotte, and Cathy Johnston Bowen and husband, Jerry of Raleigh; granddaughters, Sara and Barbara Anne Thomas; grandson, Alex Johnston Bowen; sister, Judie and husband, Sam Byers, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; niece Julie Warren; and nephews, Brandon and Laine Byers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 28 years, Peter Brian Lawrence; her parents, Harvey and Pearl Warlick; brother, Samuel Dixon Warlick; and nephew, Sam Russell Byers.
