James Carl Walters
He was born in Scotland County on April 23, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred (Willie) Thomas Walters. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Raeford Fire Department.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Carl Walters (Mary Alice) of Wilmington; a daughter, Abby Walters (Adrian) of Hope Mills; his mother, Catherine B. Monroe of Raeford; a brother, Mitchell T. Walters of Raeford; four grandchildren, Aslynn Warwick, Waylon Warwick, Jordan Mirek and Isabelle Mirek.
Visitation will be held Sunday March 31, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. at Raeford United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow, with the Rev. Brian Wingo Officiating.

Ann W. Berrios
She was born in Cumberland County on June 17, 1926 to A.C. Willis and Alice Louise Capps Willis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ismael A. Berrios. She was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church. She was the cosmetic manager for Sear and Roebuck, Collins Department Store and Kerr Drug before she retired.
She is survived by her son, Lee Ainsworth of Aberdeen.
Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Galatia Presbyterian Church 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019
The funeral will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Britt Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Myrtle Locklear
She was born on May 17, 1937 in Robeson County. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Alfred Chavis and Danny Locklear; her grandchildren, James Pate Jr. and April Pate along with her brothers and sisters, Herbert Locklear, Clifton Lowery, Delmar Lowery, Mildred Bullard and Mandy Lowery.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Locklear and her husband Donald of Red Springs, Jodi Lankford of Sanford, Debra George and her husband, Johnny of Raeford, Susie Chavis of Aberdeen, Carol Campbell of Aberdeen, Alfred Mark Chavis and his wife, Carol of Wagram, Connelly Locklear and his wife, April of Shannon; her brother, Ervin Lowery of Wichita, Kansas; her sisters, Juanita Clark of Raeford, and Yvonne Locklear of Eagle Springs; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19 from 1-2 p.m. at the Raeford Evangelical Methodist Church.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with pastors Roger Burns and Wyvast Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the New Beginning Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ella S. Davis
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. She was retired from the City of Fayetteville as a Community Resource Coordinator. She was active in her church community an she enjoyed people. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors are her daughter, Lisa Daniels and husband Johnny, and granddaughter Ziana Daniels, two brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 until noon on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 400 Campbell Ave, Fayetteville.

Samuel B. Hendrix Jr.
He was born September 22, 1942. He was a lifetime member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees. He retired from the Hoke County School as the Executive Director of Maintenance. He served in the US Army as a Captain.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Dees Hendrix of Myrtle Beach; a son Samuel Brown Hendrix III and wife Susan of Red Springs; three grandchildren, Kayla Hendrix, Emily Hendrix and Samantha Hendrix all of Red Springs; a brother, David Hendrix and wife Peggy of Aberdeen; three sisters, Pat Gaudet and husband Jerry of Charlotte, Kathy Keisler of Raeford, and Martha Ann Beal and husband Philip of Raeford.
Visitation will be held from 10 until 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church.

Kizzie Beth Jackson passed from this life on March 11, 2019.

She was born on March 3, 1921 to Donnie Lofton Haithcox and Laura Ann Hammonds Haithcox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rowland Fletcher Baker and her son, Rowland Fletcher Baker Jr. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raeford. She was a loving caring mother.
She is survived by three sons, William A. (Billy) Baker of Raeford, Ronnie L. Baker of Hartford, Kansas and Larry O. Baker and wife Bea of Raeford; three daughters, Edith B. Pearson and husband Dennis of Aberdeen, Gloria Baker of Raeford and Debbie B. Day of Aberdeen; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lofton Haithcox of Moncure; a sister, Shirley Harrington of Moncure; and special friend, Levinia Patterson.

She was born on January 23, 1957 to Raymond Evans and Marie Elizabeth Grzymkowki Evans. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Raeford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Craven.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Ross and her son Micheal Evans Ross; four sisters, Marie Elizabeth Coleman, Ann E. Fellows, Catherine E. Craig and Denise E. Gallops; five nieces; one nephew; three great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. on Monday at St. Elizabeth of Hungry Catholic Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Louise Koonce
Louise Turlington Koonce of Laurinburg, formerly of Raeford, died March 3, 2019 at Scotia Village at the age of 100.
She was born in Sampson County near Clinton on November 9, 1918 to Hugh Frank Turlington and Lula Owen Turlington. Having lost her mother in 1920, she was raised by her stepmother, the late Sarah Catherine (Kate) Owen. She was financial secretary for Raeford Presbyterian Church for almost 25 years. She was married to the late Stanley M. Koonce for more than 63 years.
She is survived by three sons, Don Koonce and wife Dorothy of Cary, Mack Koonce and wife Hope of Chapel Hill, Ken Koonce and wife Jeanne of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Mike Koonce and wife Lynn of Cary, and Jeff Koonce and wife Ann of Chapel Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Reid and Molly Koonce of Cary, and Jack and Henry Koonce of Chapel Hill.
A visitation will be held 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the McKeithan Hall at Raeford Presbyterian Church. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

She led a long, full and happy life to the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil F. and Gertrude Sinclair, her husband, Junior and her sister, Verna McCracken. She leaves behind her sister, Mildred Maxwell, son Ralph and wife Linda, son Ronnie and wife Charlotte, son Randy and wife Kathy, son Ricky, son Rusty. Grandchildren Brooke Johnson, Josh Huff, Molly Alderman, Lauren Merceron, Riley Huff and Ashley Huff. Great grandchildren Hardy and Emmy Johnson, Wells, Baker and Sally Alderman.
A Celebration of life and Memorial will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Shiloh Presbyterian Church with Reverends Rufus McLean and Sanders Read officiating, directed by Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.
