Stephen Coe Sr.

Stephen Marshall Coe Sr. died Friday, August 16, 2024, at his residence in Raeford, and went home to the Lord at the age of 78.

He was born September 1, 1945 in Durham to the late William Roland Coe and Clara Lee Dixon. He resided in Haw River, North Carolina before joining and proudly serving in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved spending time with his family. As well as enjoying classic music, classic movies & attending NASCAR races, he was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Roland Coe and a great-granddaughter, Hudson Elizabeth Swaffard.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 36 years, Bobbie Jacobs Coe, of Fayetteville; daughter, Jenifer Chinuhuk and son, Stephen Marshall Coe, Jr of Washington; brothers, Donald Lee Coe Sr., of Raleigh and Clarence Carson Coe of Graham; grandchildren, Caitlin Looney, Brooke Swaffard, Joel Coe, and Isabelle Chinuhuk; and great-grandchildren, Norah Peratrovich Looney, Madysen Wentland-Swaffard, Edward Looney, Rhett Swaffard, and Charli Looney.

Larry McCain

Larry Donald McCain of Hoke County died August 7, 2024 at the age of 72.

He was born December 29, 1951, son of the late Willie Martin and Hattie Mae McCain.

He attended Hoke County Schools and held several jobs in his lifetime. He was the owner and operator of McCain Scrap Metal for over 30 years.

He accepted Christ and joined Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Stephanie McCain; two sisters: Viola McCain and Mary Emma Watkins; and two brothers: Billy McCain Jr. and Ervin Lee McCain.

He is survived by one son, Gary McCain; one sister, Doris Dockery (Ernest); one sister-in-law, Mary Frances McCain; four step-children: Terry McNeill (Barbara), Dewanna King, Derrell King and Mashonda Southerland (Terrell); four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a fiance, Katie McPherson; two special nieces: Geraldine McCain and Patricia Warren; a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 11 at Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

Jay Edge

Jay Patrick Edge of Raeford died Monday, August 12, 2024, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, at the age of 38.

He was born April 21, 1986 in Cumberland County to Dianna Edge and the late John Edge.

He was a big kid at heart, a fun-loving person, and a loving father.

He is survived by his mother, Dianna Edge, of Raeford; children, Jordan Edge, of Fayetteville, Lilyanna Trabal-Edge, of Raeford, Paytin Edge, Taylor Edge, and Sarah Edge, all of Raeford; siblings, Leanna Hair, of Raeford, Joshua Collins, of Raeford, and Robin Edge, of Raeford; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford 131 Harris Avenue.
