Edna Whitehead Donevan of 3532 Dunn Road, Eastover, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Bethesda Health Care Facility in Eastover at the age of 81.
She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 25, 1930, to the late George and Hilda Whitehead. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald C. Donevan, her daughter Sylvia Scott and her granddaughter Shelia VonCannon. She was a member of LaFayette Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She retired after 31 years with civil service in the Pay Inquires Department at Ft. Bragg.
She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Donevan of Dunn, and Stephen Donevan of Fayetteville; two daughters, Sharon Hutchinson and her husband M.D. of Fayetteville, and Susan Tarbell and her husband Mike of Richmondville, New York; a brother Willis Whitehead and his wife Diane of Silver City; two sisters, Marcella W. Grantham of Red Springs, and Barbara W. Neblett of Richmond, Virginia; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at LaFayette Baptist Church, 501 Hope Mills Road, Fayetteville, directed by Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at LaFayette Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Brian Lee officiating.
