Leroy Henderson (Henry) Bullard passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord Jesus, surrounded by his family at his beloved home place on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Dr. David Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Sunday School Building.
A veteran of World War II (87th Infantry Division) and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. He was dedicated to his country and all it stands for. His family, friends, and church were the most important things in his life. His love of home and nature brought him endless hours of pleasure.
He is lovingly remembered by his sweetheart and wife of 71 years, Eliza Walters Bullard, and his three beloved daughters and their husbands who were like sons to him, Betty and Fred Tyner, Linda and Maurice Jennings, and Henrietta and John Meaney.
He was a dear grandfather and "Pa" to Beth Tyner Jones, Leslie Tyner, Cooper Fowler, Sinclair Fowler McLean, John Paul Meaney and Thomas Meaney. He was blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Claire and Nate Jones, Cooper, Alex, and Pearce Fowler, Eliza Jane, Dickson, and Malcolm McLean,and Anabel Meaney.
