Samuel Jackson (Jack) Autry of Red Springs died, Monday, July 01, 2013 in Golden Living Nursing Home at the age of 89.
He was born in Wake County on June 9, 1924 to the late Hope Gilbert Autry and Annie Belle Black Autry. He was a member of the Red Springs First Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. Before he retired he was employed with Belk in Raeford and Red Springs, and Joe Sugars in St. Pauls. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Stone Autry of Red Springs; his sons, Thomas H. Autry and his wife, Cindy of Raleigh, and Jimmy M. Autry and his wife, Judy of Kathleen, Georgia; his brother, David A. Autry and his wife, Mary Ellen of Texas; his sisters, Betty Jean Walters and her husband, H.P. of Raeford, and Annie Marie Kounse and her husband, Gene of Texas; three grandchildren, Ryan Autry and his wife Jennifer of Raleigh, Landon Autry and his wife Stephanie of Knightdale, and Shellie Tedford and her husband, Jason of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren, Lillie, Jackson, Darcy, Macey and Ryleigh.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Red Springs with the Rev. Bradley Boberg officiating. Burial will be in the Alloway Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the home.
