Etienne Oggeri, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in First Health Moore Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Lechi Oggeri, a local artist of Fayetteville.
Mr. Oggeri was born in Dalat, South Vietnam. It was there that he met his present wife, Lechi, sister of Madame Ngo Dinh Nhu, First Lady of South Vietnam. Her disapproval of the relationship led to his expulsion from the country and they eventually settled in Fayetteville.
He was a renowned big game hunter. He became an intelligence research analyst at Fort Bragg. After his retirement he started writing books. One of them, "I Killed for a Living," was published by Safari Press, California and was selected as one of the American Classics of the Big Game Hunting series.
A funeral service for Mr. Oggeri will be private.
