Pat Lamont Willcox, 78, died at her home in Raeford on June 15, 2014. The daughter of William Lamont, Jr. and Mary Morris Lamont, she was born on August 4, 1935.
She is survived by her children, Robert Palmer Willcox, Jr. (Kim) of Summerfield, Mary Willcox Betts (Erskine) of Apex and Amy Willcox Barefoot (Jimmy) of Apex; her grandchildren Robert and Abby Willcox, Matthew and Alston Betts and Sarah, Hannah and Lilly Barefoot; her brothers William Lamont, III of New Bern and Andrew Lamont of Raeford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A native of Raeford, she graduated in 1957 from Woman's College in Greensboro. She was a homemaker known for her excellent cooking, and taught at Hoke High School for several years in the mid-1960s. Later, she worked in the law office of Willcox and McFadyen until her husband Palmer's retirement in 1996. As a lifetime member of Raeford Presbyterian Church, she volunteered with the Women of the Church. She and Palmer lived a simple life and shared a love for family and spending time at Holden Beach.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at Raeford Presbyterian Church. The family will receive visitors in the John C. Ropp Fellowship Hall prior to the service, beginning at 2.
