William Terry Lester, 82, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, Bolivia.
He was born on June 8, 1933 in Hoke County, a son of the late L.M. and Leeanna McGougan Lester. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Lester.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired following 30 years as a parole officer with the NC Department of Corrections.
He proudly received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine award on June 30, 1993, by Gov. Jim Hunt, prior to his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, of 37 years, Carolyn Lester; daughter, Christine Dailey, of Asheville; and two granddaughters, Claire & Rachel Henry.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 31st in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel.
Inurnment will be private.
