Grace Walker Gillis, of Fayetteville, died Friday, April 29, 2016 surrounded by family at her home, at the age of 87.
She was born November 19, 1928 in Wayne County,North Carolina to the late William Wright Walker and Mable Capps Walker. She is preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. She was was known as the "corn lady "and "egg lady" on Gillis Hill.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William K."Bill" Gillis of Fayetteville, 3 sons, Robert L. Gillis (June), Frank B. "Possum" Gillis, and James W. Gillis (Wendy) all of Fayetteville, 4 grandchildren, Jessica Lee (Ben), Jenna Gilchrist (Jeremy), William Gillis (Alyssa), Caroline Gillis, 3 great grandchildren, Noah Lee, Natalie Lee, Matthew Lee, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 2:30-3:30pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 in the church parlor of Galatia Presbyterian Church 8800 Galatia Church Road, Fayetteville, NC
The funeral will be held after the visitation, at 4:00pm, in Galatia Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Bret Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
