Wanda Hall Edwards McDiarmid of Raeford, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham at the age of 71.
She was born April 2, 1945 to the late James Marion Hall and Doris Ellen Bounds Hall. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Mason Dean Edwards and her brother, Medford Hall. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Red Springs and attended Raeford Presbyterian Church. She was employed with County of Hoke in the tax department before she retired. She touched many lives through her civic activities in Raeford and Highland Springs, Virginia. She never hesitated to help anyone in need, always putting the needs of others before her own. Family and friends were her passion and delight.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny C. McDiarmid of Raeford; a daughter, Ellen Edwards Calhoun and her husband Charles of Mechanicsville, Virginia; her son, Terrance Dean "Terry" Edwards and his wife Tonya of Prince George, Virginia and their father, Harold Dean Edwards of Red Springs; two stepsons, Danny McDiarmid and his wife Meredith of Apex, and Kenny McDiarmid of Seneca, South Carolina; three brothers, Donald Hall and his wife Carolyn of Red Springs, Leon Hall and his wife Hannah of Oak Island, and Gene Hall and his wife Beverly of Angier; three grandchildren, Christa Tyler and her husband Cory, Nicholas Calhoun, Haleigh Edwards; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Emma; and two step-grandchildren, Hannah McDiarmid and Megan McDiarmid.
A visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave in Raeford.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
