Hubert Melvin Moss, 97, of Aberdeen died Friday September 15, 2017 at Kingswood Nursing Center.
He was born April 25, 1920 in Hoke County to the late Debbie Lee and Sara Louise Poole Moss and was predeceased by his wife Lamelle Kathleen Vanhoy Moss.
He was a long time member of Ashley Heights Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and in numerous other church positions over the years and was the retired owner of Hubert Moss Construction Company. He proudly served in the US Army 97th Infantry Division during WWII.
Surviving are sons Stephen Larry Moss (Marion) of Aberdeen, Darrell Hubert Moss (Elizabeth) of Aberdeen, Alan Lee Moss of Kernersville and Christopher Brandon Hall of Seven Lakes; daughter Bonita Louise King (Herbert) of Pinehurst; brother Zebedee Vance Moss of Aberdeen; sister Freida Snyder of Aberdeen; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday September 17 beginning at 2 p.m. in the Ashley Heights Baptist Church fellowship hall with the funeral service in the sanctuary at 3 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Ashley Heights Baptist Church, 10351 Aberdeen Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315.
