Lewis Brown Sandy of Raeford, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 91.
He was born in Hoke County on May 3, 1926, to the late Lloyd Allen Sandy and Maude Porter Davis Sandy. He is preceded in death by a son Lewis Fairley Sandy. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was the owner and operator of "Sandy's Barber Shop" on Stoney Point Road.
Survivors are four daughters, Alice S. Smith (Neil) of Grays Creek, Martha Birckhead (Hunter) of Lenoir, Ellen Tharp (Jimmy) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Margaret Crumpler (Kemp) of Raeford; two brothers, Eldon Sandy of Carthage, and Leslie Sandy of Raeford, ; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church, 6800 Arabia Road, Raeford.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church with Chaplain Neil Smith and the Rev. Toby Neal officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors.
