Patsy Ray Hamer of Laurinburg, formerly of Maxton, died Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Scotland Regional Hospice. She was born in Maxton on April, 14, 1932 to the late John W. Hamer and Sarah Ray Hamer.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and served the church in many capacities, especially the bazaar. She was very civic minded having served as a town commissioner for several years. She was a member of the library board and Maxton Historical Society. She retired from Johns Manville Corporation at Laurinburg-Maxton where she was administrator of Health and Welfare Benefits.
She is survived by two brothers, John W. Hamer Jr. of Southern Pines and Robert Hamer of Laurinburg; two sisters, Sarah Neal Baucom of Pinehurst and Martha Morgan of Smithfield; two nieces and two nephews; and four great nieces; and three great nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton, officiated by the Rev. Sylvia Ball. The family will receive friends following the service.
