Delbert G. Ragsdale Sr.

Delbert Gordon Ragsdale Sr., 103, of Asheboro died Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Randolph Hospice House.

He was born in Randolph County on May 10, 1916 to Asbury Martin and Bertha Trogdon Ragsdale. He was a 1934 graduate of Asheboro High School. He worked at Acme-McCrary and then he and his wife moved to Norfolk, Virginia where he worked in the shipyard. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. He was employed with Vestal Ford for more than 40 years, working in the parts department, as a salesman, and as assistant sales manager. He was a member of Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Styers Ragsdale, brother, B.T. Ragsdale, and sisters, Cleta Mae Kearns, Ethelene Charnock, and Daisy Vestal. He is survived by his sons, Delbert Gordon Ragsdale Jr. and wife Julie, and Philip Ragsdale and wife Jane, all of Raeford; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Braswell and husband Keith of Moravian Falls, and Susan Ragsdale of Asheville; a great-granddaughter, Katherine Braswell of Moravian Falls; and sister, Faedene R. Maness of Asheboro. A private graveside service was held on Sunday, May 10, 2020, his 104th birthday.
