Betty Burns Currie of Raeford died Friday, December 25, 2020 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 83.
She was born on September 12, 1937 in Maxton to the late Jesse Benton Burns and Norma McDowell Burns She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Edward Currie Jr., her siblings Helen Priest, Jesse Mae Jackson and Bobby Burns She attended Shiloh Presbyterian Church and retired from J.P. Stevens in Wagram after 35 years of service.
She is survived by her daughter Harriett Currie Johnson of Raeford; and a sister Lina Burns Young of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Monday at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford. A graveside service will follow at 3 p,m, at the Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. Rufus McLean officiating.
