Alex Schwarcbher (Retired Command Sergeant Major) died February 7, 2021 at 74 years old. He was born November 7 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
He enlisted in the Army in August of 1963 and retired in August 1990. During his service in the U.S. Army, he served in combat with the 82nd Airborne Division in the Dominican Republic, the 101st Airborne division in the Republic of Vietnam and in two combat tours with Special Forces as a Recon Team Leader and Enlisted Company Commander of an indigenous mike Force unit. He retired from active service duty in August, 1990, serving as the Command Sergeant Major of the Special Forces Training Group at Fort Bragg.
After retirement he worked 11 years as a law enforcement officer and Emergency Services director at his local community and the remainder of his years as a contractor for several defense-related companies.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Schwarcbher; his children, Alex Schwarcbher Jr., and Theresa Wilson and her husband, Scott; five grandchildren, Brittany, Alyssa, Danny, Brittani, Derek, Krystal; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford, NC 28376, on Thursday, February 10, 2021 at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fisher House Foundation, Fort Bragg, assisting visiting military families.
