Gary Adron Akers of Aberdeen in Hoke County died Thursday, April 28, 2021 at age 78.
He was born Henry County Illinois March 29, 1943 to the late Adron O. Akers and Florence Akers of Plymouth, Illinois.
He is also preceded in death by his wife Claudette Akers of Carmi, Illinois, and a sister Rachel Thomas of Lomax, Illinois.
He is survived by his children Sherry Akers of Aberdeen, Vicki Strickland (Marvin) of Raeford, Joya Sobolewski (Mark) of Carpenterville, Illinois, Bryan Akers of Corinth, Mississippi; two brothers, Calvin Akers (Dottie) of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, and Eldon Dean Akers, (Rita) of Littleton,Illinois; sisters Joyia Hoyt (Duane) of Plymouth, Illinois and Bonnie Mayall (Keith) of Littleton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held later.
