Although born in Bluefield, West Virginia, his roots were always in Raeford. Upon graduation from N.C. State University, he returned home and began work with the family businesses.
He was a kind and gentle person with a quick wit and smile. He loved his family, friends, and being a farmer in Hoke County. The sun on his shoulders, the view of a new crop sprouting, and a good fall harvest brought him great joy.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cathy Brown of Raeford; a sister, Evelyn Fram and husband Evan of Flagstaff, Arizona; a brother, Vernon "Butch" Brown and wife Mary Anne of Verona; mother-in-law Carole Angle of Southern Pines; brother-in-law Gregory Angle and wife Kathy of Lenoir; a niece, Holly Brown of Tallahassee, Florida; and nephews Adam Brown of Raleigh, Eric Fram of Los Angeles, California, and Zachary Angle of Courtland, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Raeford Cemetery, with the Rev. Joshua Eom officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in his memory.
Care of the family is entrusted to Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford.
