Retired Staff Sgt. Vaughn Wayne (Duke) Guy of Raeford died Monday, May 30, 2022 at age 77.
He was born in Philadelphia on June 10, 1944 to the late Johnny B. Guy and Alvetia Mitchell Guy. He retired from the U. .Army in 1982 where he served proudly in Vietnam and was a survivor of the TET offense.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Michaela Guy and eight siblings, Lawrence, Phillip, Gerald, David, Christopher, Kenny, Sheila, and Roxanne.
He is survived by his wife of 40 Years Leonor (Lee) Guy of Raeford; four children, James Krom and his wife Melanie of Andover, Minnesota, Donna Betz of Newport News, Virginia, Robert Krom of Raeford, and Teresa Krom of Toms River, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Pierre, Cierra, Giovanna, Emma, Mia, Noah, Isabel, Harvey Jr., and Richard; one great-granddaughter, Liliana; and five siblings, Donald Guy of Berlin, New Jersey, Martha Tyree of Maryland, Beetle Guy and his wife Sarah of Berlin, Roberta Strickland of Voorhees, New Jersey, and Dale Guy of Wilmington.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022, at Crumpler Funeral Home, Raeford. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at noon on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Sandhills Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Ft. Bragg, NC with full military honors.
