Gladys Ray Locklear Lucas Aberdeen died at Central Harnett Hospital on Friday, February 17 at the age of 67.
Born at home on April 4, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Dorothy Bullard Locklear.
She joined the Job Corps in her teens and served with them for many years. Her service brought her to Oklahoma and California before returning home to take care of her ailing mother. She had been a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al Lucas; brother, Sylvester Locklear; and sister, Nellie Zavala.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Locklear. She was the sister of Bonnie Brown, Gloria Jacobs, John Locklear, Roberta "Flossy" Locklear and Duck Locklear.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, February 22 at 2 p.m. at the Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave. Southern Pines. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1-2 p.m.
