Joyce McDuffie Hardin of Aberdeen, formerly of Raeford, died Sunday, September 17, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer, at FirstHealth Hospice House at the age of 72.
She was born December 4, 1950, to the late Daniel Weldon and Mary Alice Hagins McDuffie.
She was a member of Pittman Grove Baptist Church. She was the Co-owner of Hardin's Food Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Hardin, and her siblings D.W. McDuffie (Sally), Margaret McLendon (Johnnie), Myrtle Knowles (Jim), Lillian Formyduval (Mackie), and Carl McDuffie.
She is survived by two daughters: Allison H. Walters and husband Keith of Pinehurst, Kimberly H. Michael and husband Ronald of Raeford; eight grandchildren, Jordan Walters, Hope Walters, Luke Walters, Austin Hartgrove (Bailey), Peyton Holland (Peyton), Nevin Frederick, Travis Michael (Marianne) and Zach Michael (Chera). Two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Hartgrove and Wyatt Michael, a brother Earl McDuffie of St. Pauls, a sister-in-law Phyllis McDuffie of St. Pauls; a brother-in-law Bobby Hart of South Port; loving nieces, nephews, and cousins and her best friend whom she called her sister, Gloria Thornhill.
A graveside memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Great Marsh Baptist Church Cemetery, 270 Great Marsh Church Road, St. Pauls, N.C., 8384 with Reverend Kenneth Williams officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
