Joan Perrell died peacefully Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the age of 82.
She was born January 24, 1942 at Fort Bragg.
She brought joy, laughter, and a touch of wit into the lives of those she met. Her career as an accountant with GMC in Charlotte showcased her remarkable skills with numbers, but it was her quick wit and infectious smile that truly set her apart. She effortlessly transformed mundane spreadsheets into comedic masterpieces, leaving coworkers in stitches and never failing to brighten their day.
Outside of her professional life, she was a proud member of the Eastern Star, where she found solace and friendship among kindred spirits. Her dedication to this organization was a testament to her caring and generous nature, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Hilburn McLeod, Sr., and Susan Alice Buie McLeod, as well as her brother, Archie H. McLeod, Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dave Perrell, and daughter, Belinda P. Elchert. Also mourning her loss are her sisters, Mary Anne M. Crawford and Marcia M. Pinyan, as well as her granddaughter, Roxanne Deaton. Her great-grandchildren, Lillian, Layla, and C.J., will forever remember the warmth of her embrace and the twinkle in her eye.
A service honoring her vibrant life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Red Springs. Burial followed in the Philadelphus Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service, providing an opportunity to share cherished memories and celebrate a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the local animal shelters in Charlotte, in her memory.
