Daryel Lee Garnes of Raeford died March 3, 2024, peacefully in his sleep at home, at the age of 75.
He was born December 30, 1948 in Ohio to the late Harry and Joy Garnes.
He was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 and did two tours in Vietnam. He was a proud Purple Heart recipient among several other awards.
He was a hardworking man who always stood up for what he thought was right. He could make anyone laugh, and loved living life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Garnes; son, Daryel Lee Garnes, Jr.; and old brother, David Garnes.
He is survived by his sons, Alex Garnes (Alicia) and Jeff Garnes (Thea); grandsons, Daryel Lee Garnes III, Ethan Garnes, Will Garnes, and Scott Garnes; two siblings, Debbie and Rick; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, NC 28376. A service followed at 3 p.m with Reverend Dr. Michael Martin officiating. Burial was held in the Raeford Cemetery with full military honors.
