Sandra White

 Sandra Kaye White of Raeford died Saturday, March 5, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family at the age of 76.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton White Sr. She was a member of the Raeford United Methodist Church, the choir, and Prime-Timers. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Phillip White of Morris, Illinois; Alton White, Jr. (Toni) of Tennessee; her daughters, Charlotte Wever of Homestead, Florida, Phillis Nelson (Tommy) of Raeford, Sandy Guin of Aberdeen, and Mandy Jackson (Stacy) of Shelby; her brother, Lynn Howe (Gina) of Morris, Illinois; her sister, Darlene Smith of Frankfort, Indiana; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Raeford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Wingo officiating.

Elbert R. Randleman

Elbert R. Randleman passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at the age of 68.
Survivors are two daughters, Charlene Bounds (David) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kristie of Shannon; a son, Daryl of Red Springs; six grandchildren, Jevaris McArn of Raeford, Latrisha McArn of Atlanta, Daryl Jr. and Shania of Red Springs, and Brandon McRae and Harlei Maynor of Shannon; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie of Savannah, Georgia.
No services are planned.

Wanda O. Suggs

Wanda Orem Suggs of Fayetteville, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at SECU Hospice House, at the age of 81.

She was born March 12, 1934 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late William Crawford and Ruby Sharp Crawford. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Orem and Paul R. Suggs; her sons, Robert L. Orem, Jr. and Gary S. Orem; a grandson, S. Matthew Orem; and a stepson, Robert Suggs.

She is survived by her son Mike Orem and his wife Cheryl of Raeford; a daughter,Teresa Chason and her husband Roy of Davis Bridge; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Orem, Lindsay Orem, Kristen Chason, and Elizabeth Chason; and one great-grandson, Joshua Orem; a brother, William Crawford of Oakridge, Tennessee;  three sisters, Louise Owens and Mildred Greene both of Knoxville, and Carrie Vokel and her husband John of Oakridge Tennessee; and three stepsons.

Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 in the Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

 

 

 

Linda Smith

Linda Jane Smith of Raeford died Friday, February 12, 2016 in her home at the age of 63.

She was born in Cumberland County on December 7, 1952, to the late George and Wilma Nichols Koester. She was employed with Pinehurst Medical Clinic for more than 15 years.

Survivors are her husband of 44 years, Robert Dale Smith of Raeford; two daughters, Jennifer S. Holland and her husband Neill of Raeford, and Jamie S. Reedy and her husband Howard of Raeford; four grandchildren, Shannon Reedy, Taylor Holland, Carmen Holland and Robert (Robbie) Reedy, all of Raeford; a special child , Max Smith; three sisters, Joanne Grigsby and her husband Walter of Robertsdale, Alabama, Peggy Boone and her husband J.D. of Seminole, Florida and Georgette Reese and her husband Kim of Jackson, Georgia. 

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday February 17, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Toby Neal officiating. Inurnment will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Kayla Dion Higgins

Kayla Dion Higgins, 22, of Norwood, formerly of Raeford, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016.

She was born December 18, 1993 to the late Kevin Dion Higgins and Sandra Lynn McIntyre Higgins. She was a program assistant at Helping Hands and was a member of New Directions Life Ministries.

She is survived by daughter, Ava Higgins of Clarksville, Tennessee; sisters Ayesha Roberts of Clarksville, and Kassandra Higgins of Prairie View, Texas; maternal grandmother, Ann Maner of Norwood; great-grandmother Lucille Maner of Norwood; paternal grandmother Alice Higgins of Fayetteville; and uncles David McIntyre and Clint McIntyre.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Pastor Anita Owens Scott will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home.  

Peter Sorensen

Peter J. Sorensen of Raeford, formerly of Illinois, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Autumn Care of Raeford at the age of 86.

He was born in Cook County, Illinois on December 29, 1929 to the late Jens Peter Sorensen and Phillis Ward Sorensen. He was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Sorensen.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer in Illinois and plant manager at Crane Packing in Vandalia, Illinois before he retired. His hobbies were woodworking and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Helen Sorensen; one son, Dane P. Sorensen; one daughter, Jean S. Thomas (Robert); two grandchildren, Christian and Jacob Thomas; and 2 sisters, Phyllis Nelson of Round Lake, Illinois, and Meta Iwachaniuk of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Emma Hardin

 Emma Rhodes Hardin of Raeford, died Monday, February 1, 2016 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital at the age of 87.

She was born May 4, 1928 in Robeson County to the late Jetter Osborne Rhodes and Mary Walters Rhodes. She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Odell Hardin and two sisters, Geneva Ivey and Omega Hardin. She served as a faithful member of the Raeford United Methodist Church for 50 years, where she was very active. She was involved with her Bible Circle Group, and a member of the Pearl S. Cole Sunday School Class. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen H. Wilson and her husband Ronald of Raeford, and Kimberly H. Shepard and her husband Barclay of Poquoson, Virginia;  two grandchildren, Lorie Garrison and Gaston Shepard; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Garrison.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Raeford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brian Wingo officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.

Aaron L. Hollingsworth

Aaron Lee Hollingsworth of Raeford died Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the FirstHealth Hospice House at the age of 63.
Aaron was born on July 14, 1952 in Sampson County. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion "Red" Hollingsworth and his sister, Patricia Lynn Maynard. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church where he taught and was superintendent of the Sunday school. He also taught the discipleship class and was a deacon, chairman, and a trustee. Aaron was also owner and operator of Hollingsworth Auto Sales.
Survivors are:  his wife, Linda R. Hollingsworth of Raeford; his sons, Andrew "Drew" Hollingsworth of Raeford; Adrian Rollins of Vass; his daughter, Tonya Hinson of Raeford; his mother, Laura D. Hollingsworth of Raeford; his sisters, Wanda Brock of Raeford, Judy VanAllen (Billy) of Raeford; two grandchildren, Tristan Rollins and Alaina "Bean" Stewart; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Memorial service will begin at 5 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Reverend Toby Neal officiating.

Timothy McQueen

Timothy McQueen, of Raeford, died Saturday, January 30, 2016.
Survivors are: his wife, LeShenda McQueen; children, Tite-Ana, Lezah and Trebor; parents, Larry and Sylvia McQueen; sisters, Chiquita Alexander(T.K.) and Sharonda McQueen; brothers, Larry McQueen(Courtney) and Tremain McQueen(Tiffanie).
The funeral will be held Saturday, February 6 at 1 p.m. at J.W. Turlington School. Burial will be St. Mary's Christian Pentecostal Church Cemetery in Red Springs.
Viewing will be held Friday, February 5 in Buie's Funeral Home Chapel from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Larosa Jones

Larosa Jones, 52, of Raeford, died Janurar 27, 2016.
Survivors are: her husband, Mitchell Jones; daughter, Larlet Henly; sons, Marcus Jones(Camella) and Mitchell Jones, Jr.(Kimberly); 12 grandchildren; mother, Evangelist Mary Della Brunson; brothers, Minister Rodney Brunson(Barbara) and Bill Bruson(Tammy); sisters, Shirley McNatt, Mary McLeod, Eldress Della Smith, and Lisa Fields; nephew, Kunte Bethea; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Jones.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 3 at 2 p.m. in Laurel Hill MB Church. Burial will be in church cemetery.

Madelein Campbell

Madeline Campbell, of Raeford, died Saturday, Januray 23, 2016.
Survivors are: sons, William Latif Harris and Paul Edward Worsley, Jr.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Helen Way.
A memorial service was held Sunday, January 31 at 3:30 p.m. in Buie's Funeral Home Chapel.
