Shirley Truesdale Gibson, 81, died on Sunday, September 3, 2017.
She was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on July 14, 1936 to Brooks and Velma Truesdale. She married her beloved husband Robert "Bobby" Gibson in 1955, and they moved to Bobby's home state of North Carolina where they ran Gibson Farms of Hoke County and were active members of Antioch Presbyterian Church. She was a dedicated educator and worked at Hoke County Schools for many years, serving on the Board of Education as chairman. She carried this love and leadership over into her daily life, where she was a devoted mother to two children and grandmother of three. She was widely known for her wit, her grit, and her unfailingly kind heart.
She will be especially missed not only by her family, but her friends at the Raeford Garden Club and at Scotia Village, where she volunteered.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bobby Gibson, her parents, and by her sisters Pat Meyers and Gerri Landrum and brother Gene Truesdale. She is survived by her children Andrew "Andy" Gibson of Antioch (and his wife Tracy); daughter Julia "Juli" Gibson Spring of Durham (and her husband Keith); brother Jim Truesdale of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Melba Autry Gibson of Raeford; granddaughter Victoria Spring of State College, Pennsylvania; granddaughter Ashlyn Spring of Urbana, Illinois; and granddaughter Christine Byrd of Antioch.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 1 p.m. at Antioch Presbyterian Church with a visitation immediately following in the Education Building. Family will attend burial at Raeford Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are provided by Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful of a memorial contribution made in Shirley's name to Antioch Presbyterian Church at 6583 Red Springs Rd., Red Springs, N.C. 28377or to the charity of your choice.

Louise C. King
Louise Currie King, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Raleigh, surrounded by family, on Sunday, August 27, 2017. She was born on August 19, 1943 to Albert and Eunice Currie of Hoke County. On May 30, 1964, she married Buddy Ray King, who also preceded her in death. They eventually settled in Raleigh, where she lived for the past 39 years. A graduate of Greensboro Women's college, she worked as a math teacher before transitioning into the field of computer programming. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was also an avid bridge player. One of her greatest joys was running the Vanderbilt Bridge Club,where she loved directing and supporting the Raleigh bridge community. She is survived by her two children: Shannon King and her husband Mike Jenkins of Virginia, and Matt King and his wife Heidi of Raleigh. She also has four grandchildren who brought her great joy: CJ and William Paschall, and Noah Jenkins and AJ Quade. Additionally, she had four sisters whom she dearly loved: Dot Humphrey and husband James of Raleigh, Pat Worsham and husband Jim of Bluefield, Virginia, Carolyn Ashley and her husband George of Youngsville, and Shirley Marshall, who lost her battle to ALS in 2002. She was also devoted to her many nieces and nephews who carried a special place in her heart. Services will be private. Betty Jo Jeffries
Betty Jo Jackson Jeffries, 78, of Raeford went to be with her Heavenly Father August 26, 2017.
She was born July 29, 1939 to the late Labon Charles Jackson and Hattie Mae McKenzie Jackson. She made holidays special and made people feel welcomed and loved. Family always came first.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Jackson, Kathleen McBryde, Marie Hickman, and Frances McInnis; and her brothers, Howard Jackson, Charles "Mack" Jackson and William "Billy" Jackson.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Jeffries; daughters, Joanne Hollingsworth (Allen), and Gail Frahm (Tim); sisters, Jenny Matino and Carol Tew; brother, Bobby Jackson; stepsons, Wayne Jeffries (Jena), Michael Jeffries (Marcy) and Eric Jeffries; four grandchildren, Nick and Chris Frahm (Anna), and Danielle and Erin Hollingsworth; seven step-grandchildren, Zachary, Christian, Brittany, Morgan, Maggie, Jessica and Victoria Jeffries; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Frahm.
The family will receive visitors at Raeford United Methodist Church Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 a.m.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.

Michael B. Foster, 72, of Aberdeen, passed away on August 25, 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda (Tina Whitaker) Foster and three daughters, Kendra Collier (Ed) of Sanford, Angie Breeding (James) of Louisville, Kentucky and Erin Torres (Jeff) of Indian Land, South Carolina. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Patricia Maness of Robbins, Yvonne Dunn (Sherrill) of Meadowview, Virginia, Juanita Saunders (Jerry) of West End, and Debbie Cole (Tommy) of West End.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Charlotte Foster; two sisters, Delana and Sandra Kay Foster; and one brother, Donald Foster.
Following his request, there will be no visitation or services.

Frannk J. Orians
Frank J. Orians, age 74, of Bluffton, South Carolina and formerly of Raeford, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 at home. He was born on May 29, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a graduate of Campbell University and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam and retired as major. During his tenure he served as a medic and as a Green Beret with the Special Forces. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. Following his military career he worked as a Veterans Representative at Methodist University and for Hoke County. He was active with Rolling Thunder in Fayetteville and H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group). He was also a member of the VFW, the DAV, and Parker United Methodist Church in Raeford.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Orians; and sister, Rudee Orians. He is survived by his wife of six years, Teresa A. Orians; son, Frank Joel Orians (Sherry); daughter, Michelle Dobbin (Robert); mother, Harriet Menkveld; stepson, Larry Ellis-Palmer (Jessina); stepdaughter, Mary Ellis Meadows (Chris); sisters, Judy Orians and Jean Orians (Jim Blacker); stepbrother, David Menkveld (Nenita); grandchildren, Joseph, Jared, Kendra, and Branda; step-grandchildren, Isabella and Liliana; and great-grandson, Jackson.
The funeral will be held at noon, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910 with burial following at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Chesley T. Crouch Jr.
He was born in Hoke County on June 11, 1924 to the late Chesley Thomas Crouch Sr. and Mary Ina Thompson Crouch. He was a farmer in Hoke County until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Strother Crouch and his sons, Tim Crouch and James Crouch.
He is survived by a son, David Crouch (Jan) of Calabash; two daughters, Nora Summerland (Larry) of Society Hill, South Carolina and Rachel Wilson (Bill) of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; two brothers, Ernest Crouch (Marie) of Carthage, and Hardin Crouch (Juanita)of Hampstead; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Crouch of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.
The funeral will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. in Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in Ashley Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.

Stephanie C. McCain
Stephanie Charise McCain died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Duke University Hospital.
She was born to the late Sarah Ann McNeill and Larry D. McCain on May 27, 1975. She graduated from Hoke High School in 1993.
She is survived by four children, Tatiana Graham, Delton Graham, Artagres Morrs and Ja'mes McCain; and two brothers, Terry McNeill of Raeford and Gary McCain of Goldsboro.
The funeral will be held Saturday, August 19 at 1 p.m. at J.W. Turlington School.
