Alphus Glenn Pittman of Elizabeth City, formerly of Raeford, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Elizabeth City, at the age of 83.
He was born September 7, 1932 in Hoke County, to the late Alphus Worth Pittman and Mae Davis Pittman. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He was a member of Pittman Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Georgean Mack Pittman of Elizabeth City; seven daughters, Kathy Midgett of Hertford, Marie Foster (Brian)of Shiloh, Sandy Godfrey of Elizabeth City, Roberta Ange of Elizabeth City, Patty Galligan (John) of Elizabeth City, Debbie Voght, and Rachel Mooney (Travis) Currituck; a son, George Voght (Barbara) of Elizabeth City; a brother, Larry Pittman (Diana) of Camden; four sisters, Hazel Tucker of Hamlet, Shelby Upton (Glenn) of Camden, Dorothy Ayers (James) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Carolyn Whitley(Marvin) of Battleboro; sister-in-law Judy Pittman of Raeford; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service was held Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Pittman Family Cemetery, with the Reverend Kenneth Williams officiating, and directed by Crumpler Funeral Home.
