Jane Autry McKenzie, 86, died July 15, 2017 at Autumn Care in Raeford surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Cumberland County, on Tuesday, September 9, 1930 to the late Jessie Autry and Gladys Fann Autry.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Springs. She also served as an employee of the church for 25 years in the Child Development Center, where she was known as "Miss Jane" to hundreds of children that she loved as her own. Two of her favorite hobbies were baking cakes and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Joe" S. McKenzie Sr.; one brother, Gene Autry; and one sister, Helen Bowen.
She is survived by a son, Joseph McKenzie Jr. and his wife, Kim of Albemarle; three daughters, Mary Bounds and fiancee David, Shelia Batchelor and husband Richard of Dacula, Georgia, and Janet Summers and husband Mike of Raeford; two brothers, the Rev. Herman Autry of Raeford and Richard Autry of Fayetteville; two sisters, Susie Cartee of Hope Mills and Elaine Dowdy of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren, Matthew Batchelor, Jeffery Bounds and Kyle Bounds and wife Nici.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Red Springs. Burial will follow in the Alloway Cemetery.
