Mark Steven Kicklighter, 54, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at his home in Raeford.
He was born on February 10, 1963 in Wilkes County, Georgia and lived most of his life in Raeford. He was a 1981 graduate of Hoke County High School and a 1984 graduate of Watterson Institute of Technology in Charlotte. Mark suffered physical disability from diabetes most of his life and in 1995 underwent rare and lifesaving kidney and pancreas transplant surgery in Chapel Hill. From then, he became a great proponent of the Chapel Hill Organ Transplant Team and a great encourager to other diabetics and transplant recipients. He loved cooking, gardening and spending time with his extended family. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin D. Kicklighter Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Kicklighter of Raeford; a sister, Julie (William) King of Raleigh; a brother, Frank (Bobbie) Kicklighter of Fayetteville, Georgia; three nieces, Jessica (Jason) Snead, Michaela (Scott) Mundorf and Rebecca (Jhonatan) Minope; three nephews, Graham Kicklighter, Matthew (Marcy) King and Patrick (Gianna) Kicklighter; one grandnephew, Simon Snead; and two grandnieces, Clara Snead and Norah Kicklighter.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Raeford on Saturday, July 29th, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends and relatives one hour before the service time at the church.
