Fred (Pete) Harris of Raeford died Monday, July 20, 2020 at FirstHeath Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 77.
He was born in Hoke County on October 5, 1942, to the late Fred Gray Harris and Lillian Ruth Taylor Harris. He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Harris and two brothers Fred Gray (Bones) Harris Jr. and Jerry Odell Harris. He was a lifelong farmer in Hoke County and was also employed with Butterball, farming turkeys He loved to hunt, spend time at his Fox Pen, attend Fox Trials, and was a past Wagon Master and a lifetime member of the Hoke County Wagon Train for 59 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Raeford. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Agnes B. Harris of Raeford; his children, Jerry Harris (Pamela) of Raeford, Marie McBryde of Raeford, Dianne Monsour of Raeford, Debbie Ray (Bob) of Laurinburg, Darrell Dees (Patti) of Lumberton, Jack Capps of Roxboro, Jill Cannady (Mike) of Cary, Dean Capps of Rougemont, Barbie Coble (Mark) of Mississippi and Darlene Lumpkin (Mike) of Bahama; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Peggie Revels (Freddie) of Courtney, Linda Lane of East Bend, and Dusty Lineberry (Stanley) of East Bend.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at Hillcrest Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until noon.
The funeral will be held at noon at the church with Pastor Toby Neal and Pastor Stephen Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Raeford Cemetery.
