Sieglinde Merz Sumner of Raeford died Friday, July 24, 2020 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 77.
She was born in Germany on July 12, 1943 to the late Ludwig Merz and Elisabetha Stay Merz. She was preceded in death by her husband Alec Cary Sumner. She was employed with Kolcraft in Aberdeen before she retired.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Akers of Raeford and Vicki Akers Strickland and her husband, Marvin of Raeford; five grandchildren, Tabitha Leviner and her husband, Richard, James A. Martin, Harley Ray Jones and his wife Sarah, Joe Nathan Jones and his wife Bethany and Shane Joseph Strickland;10 great – grandchildren; a sister, Lieselotte Zwally of Germany; and her partner R.T. Boan.
A private graveside service will be held.at the Ashley Heights Baptist Church Cemetery.
