Ivory Little of Hoffman died peacefully Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Reid Heart Center – FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 87.
He was born September 3, 1935 to the late Herman and Arnor Bea Hart Little.
A few years after marriage to the late Janet Gilmore Little they relocated to Washington, D.C., where they resided for several years. After returning to North Carolina, he was employed at Proctor Silex in Southern Pines for 20+ years until his retirement. He later became part owner/operator of Jones and Little Funeral Services in Aberdeen, where he diligently worked until his health failed.
He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Hoffman and the oldest living member of Macedonia Lodge #629 of Hoffman. He was a kind, helpful and considerate person who will be loved and remembered in the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years; his parents; one son, Christopher Little; one daughter, Kimberly Little; and his brother, Emry Little.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories four sons: Reginald Little of Atlanta, Ivy Little (Dorothy), George Little, Stephen Little all of Hoffman; three daughters: Iris Arnese Little of Hoffman, Ivan Janeen Taylor (Robert) of Madison, Alabama, and Jevone Baldwin of Southern Pines; five grandchildren: LaShunta Little-Williams (Anthony) of Charlotte, Latasha Little (Curtis) of Missouri City, Texas, Mia Bennett of Southern Pines, Kieyona Little of Aberdeen and Jarek Taylor of Madison, Alabama; four great-grandchildren: Khairee Little, Aria Williams, Ella Ryan Taylor and Sage Smith; one aunt: Ramona Hart of Madison, North Carolina; one brother-in-law: Retired Bishop Marshall Gilmore of Concord; two sisters-in-law: Yvonne Gilmore of Concord, and Alice Livingston, of Hoffman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A public viewing was held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Jones and Little Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen. A funeral was held at noon on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church in Hoffman, with Reverend Tommy Hart officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Hoffman.
