Jimmy Bullard

Jimmy Bullard of 5428 Laurinburg Road, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in Scotland Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
He was born in Robeson County on July 4, 1929 to the late Mr. Bob Bullard and Mrs. Lettie Locklear.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Murray Bullard; three sons, Roger Locklear and his wife, Laverne, of Fayetteville, Randy Bullard and his wife, Mary of Shannon, Charles Bullard and his wife, Barbara of Shannon; two step-sons, Dannie Jacobs and his wife, Barbara of Maxton, Corey Jacobs and his wife, Dawn of New Jersey; two daughters Martha Jane Lewis and her husband, Milton of Shannon, Mary Ann Locklear and her husband, Reverend Larry D. of Shannon; a brother, Charlie Bullard and his wife, Linda of Summerfield; two sisters, Shirley Oldham and her husband, Palmer of Red Springs, Betty Faye Wright of Greensboro; two special grandchildren Corey (Bear) and Michaela; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel, 220 E. 4th Ave, Red Springs
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at St. Pauls Faith Assembley of God, 109 Evans Road, St. Pauls.
Burial will be in the Bullard Family Cemetery.

Ronald E. Hinson

Ronald Eugene Hinson, age 71, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Robeson County on March 4, 1941 to the late Jack Hinson and Louise Melton Hinson. He attended Emmanuel Holiness Church in Red Springs and was involved with the Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Melissa and Melinda Hinson.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara S. Hinson of Wagram; a son, John Hinson and wife Skye of Poquoson, Virginia; three daughters, Rhonda Bird and husband Harry of Charleston, South Carolina, Constance "Connie" Fulp of Clemmons, and Debra Hinson of Columbus, Georgia; two brothers, Richard Hinson and wife Joyce of St. Pauls, and Larry Hinson and wife, Betty of Sanford; two sisters, Jackie Billings and husband Jeff of Winston-Salem, and Susan Jarman and husband Ronald of Parkton; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 in Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Road, Lumberton with Pastor Larry Hinson officiating with full military honors. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Mary V. Willis

Mary Virginia Willis died Saturday, April 21, 2012 in her home at the age of 51.
She was born in Anson County on December 16, 1960 to the late William Willis and Virginia Mae Willis.
Survivors include a son, Michael Jenkins and wife Christina of Fayetteville; two daughters, Heather Hamilton and husband George of Raeford, and Jena Jenkins of Fayetteville; her mother Virginia Mae Willis of Raeford; a sister, Georgianna DeMers of Rock Hill, South Carolina; her companion, Leroy Thomas of Raeford; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford, and at other times at the home of Virginia Willis, 415 Midway Drive, Raeford.
A Graveside Service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Parker United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. James D. Wilhide officiating.

Reid. W. Childress

Reid Wesley Childress, age 91, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
He was born in Surry County on July 27, 1920 to the late Carl W. Childress and Mecie Matthews Childress. He was an active member of Montpelier Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder and Deacon. He was a World War II Veteran with distinguished service in the Army Air Corp, as a 1st Lieutenant. He was stationed in Italy and was part of the invasion of France in 1944, as a copilot of a C-47. Following the war, he began a career as a farmer in Hoke County with T. B. Upchurch, Inc. After farming for years, he and his wife opened a tax and bookkeeping business in Raeford, which they operated until their retirements.
He was involved in numerous business and civic organizations throughout his life. Among his many involvements were Hoke County Farm Bureau, American Legion Post 449, Production Credit Association Executive Board, Cooperative Tobacco Warehouse Board of Directors, and was a Founding Member of the Raeford Lion's Club and President of the Cape Fear Chapter of Accountants.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Pearl McKenzie Childress, his brother, Warren Childress, and three sisters, Eva Faircloth, Ruth Leslie and Rebecca Childress.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Katie M. Childress of Raeford, Dora Carmack of Pollocksville and Frances McKenzie of Palatka, Florida, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Avenue, Raeford.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Montpelier Presbyterian Church with CRE Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

William D. Lunsford

William David Lunsford, of 1100 Bethune Avenue, died in his home, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the age of 70.
He was born on in Cumberland County on July 12, 1941 to the late Jay and Alice Lunsford. He was a member of Parker United Methodist Church in Raeford.
Survivors include his brother, Fred Lunsford and his wife Melba of Fayetteville, Ted Lunsford of Raeford, Larry Lunsford and his wife Sondra of Raeford, and Monte Lunsford and his wife Patti of Raeford.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Crumpler Funeral Home, 131 Harris Ave, Raeford, NC 28376.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 20212 at Parker United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Lamm presiding.
Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service.

G. Raz Autry

G. Raz Autry, Jr. of 290 Fairway Lane died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 85.
He was born in Harnett County, NC on January 9, 1927 to the late George Raz Autry, Sr. and Bertie Lee. He was an active member of Raeford United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy and the US Marines during WWII. He graduated from East Carolina Teachers College.
Survivors include his wife, Ireni T. Autry of Raeford; a son, George Raz Autry, III "Skip" and wife Pandy of Fayetteville; four brothers, Corbit Autry and wife Frances of Raeford, Charles Autry and wife Jessie of Greenville; Wallace Autry and wife Edna of Dunn, and Ret Col. Jerry Autry and wife Jackie of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Lindsay Autry of West Palm Beach, Florida, Jackson R. Autry of Astoria, New York, and Samantha Autry of New York, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Raeford Cemetery with Chaplain Jerry Autry and the Rev. Adolph Smith officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at Raeford United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall following the service.

Vickie L. Pate

Vickie Lynn Pate of 522 E. Edinborough Avenue, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in her home at the age of 51.
She was born in Cumberland County on November 19, 1960.
Survivors include a son, Chris Handon of Raeford; a daughter, Tiffany Handon of Raeford, her father, Robert Pate and his wife Janet of Raeford; her mother, Dana McInnis DeArce and her husband Gilbert of Miami, Florida; a sister, Jennifer DeArce of Southern Pines; and a grandson, Noah Handon of Red Springs.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the home at 522 E. Edinborough Avenue, Raeford.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Dundarrach Community Church with the Rev. Dr. Ray Harris officiating.

Alton Locklear

Alton "Jab" Locklear, 82, of 404 Murphy McLaughlin Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Survivors are: sons, Danny, Roy, Wallace and Jerry; daughter, Mary; sister, Catherine Dial; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral was Monday. Apr. 16 at 3 p.m. in Hoke County Holiness Church. Burial was in church cemetery.

Theresa H. McBryde

Theresa Hollowell McBryde of 3612 St. Pauls Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst at the age of 87.
She was born in Wayne County on August 7, 1924 to the late Gurney and Renna Stevens Hollowell. She was a member of Raeford Presbyterian Church. She was the Owner and Operator of Theresa's Dress Shop in Raeford for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson McBryde.
Survivors include a son, G. Van McBryde and wife Christy of Kinston; a daughter, Susan McBryde of Raleigh; and two grandchildren, Lauren M. Gray and husband Ashley and their daughter, Lucy Gray, all of LaGrange, and Wilson H. McBryde and wife Nicole of Mooresville.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Raeford Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Braden officiating.

Inge K. Lowell

Inge Kaim Lowell, died Friday, April 13, 2012 in her home at the age of 78.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odber P. Lowell and her son, Charly A. Lowell.
Survivors include two sisters, Lido St. John of Arizona and Silke Hirschvogel of Germany; and a niece, Lil Barlow of Arizona.

Annie Auman Brim

Annie Ruth Auman Brim, 91, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at The Randolph Hospice House.
A native of Hoke County, she was born Oct. 17, 1920, the daughter of the late Charlie Roe Auman and Minnie Mae Freeman Auman. She was retired from Ram Tie in Ramseur and she worked for Cross Road Rest and Retirement Center after her retirement. She was a member of Huldah Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Brim; her children, Eugene Brim, Bobbi Jean Brim, Lewis Brim; her grandson, her sisters; Frances Voncannon, Beulah Hartsell, Louise Clodfelter; and her brothers, Garland Auman and James Auman.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Thornburg of Asheboro and Janet Murchison of Julian; son, Larry Brim of Port Orange, Fla; sister, Clara Holt of Greensboro; brothers, Donald Auman of Rockingham, Charles Auman of Jackson Springs and Carl Auman of Winston-Salem; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Huldah Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen and the Rev. Wayne Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home of Deidre Teague, 3997 Happy Hollow Road, Asheboro.

Kathryn Alberta Holt McPhatter, 79, of Raeford, died Thursday, April 5, 2012.

Mary Callahan Guinn, of Raeford and formerly of Laurel Hill, died Thursday, April 5, 2012.

 Mary Lois Jones Little, 79 of Raeford, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
Survivors are: husband, Ernest; sons, James and Bobby; daughters, Debbie Watson, Kathy Elizabeth and Cynthia Holmes; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday, Apr. 9 at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Grove AME Zion Church. Burial was in church cemetery.



Herman Carpenter

Herman Carpenter, 64, of 207 Clay St., died Wednesday, April 4, 2012.
Survivors are: sons, Michael McPhatter, Darryl Jordan, Kenneth and William; daughter, Keisha Ricks; brother, Dennis; sisters, Dessie Campbell, Delores Blake, Barbara Griffin and Dianne Miller.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Arp. 10 at 11 a.m. in St. James United Church of God.
