US Army MSG (Ret) Julius Glockner Jr. died Friday, April 27, 2018, in the FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Osejik, Croatia (Yugoslavia) on March 7, 1940 to the late Julius Sr. and Eva Glockner.
He retired from the Army after 26 ½ years, which included one tour in Vietnam, and several tours in Germany and Korea. He was a successful businessman in the computer world, owning his own company, JulGlen Computers. One of his passions was bowling, He was a member of Professional Bowling Association (PBA) and several leagues. He also won several gold medals and state championships while participating in the Senior Bowling Olympics. He enjoyed working in his vineyard. He was very family-oriented and enjoyed Hungarian cooking and grilling for special occasions.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Eva Glockner.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Glenda Martin Glockner of Raeford; two daughters, Sandra Graves (Terry) and Carolyn Hernandez (Luis); one granddaughter Ava; a special "adopted" son Erik Mohr from Germany along with his sister Cathy Mulcahy of Mission Viejo, California; and a brother Albert Glockner of Merrimack, New Hampshire.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Crumpler Funeral Home 131 Harris Ave. Raeford.
The funeral will be held 1pm Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Crumpler Funeral Home Chapel in Raeford.
Burial will follow in the Pinelawn Memorial Park, 1105 West Morganton Rd. Southern Pines.
