Orlando Terrence McAllister died April 19, 2018. He was born June 29, 1950 in Hoke County to the late John D. McAllister Sr. and Juanita Freeman McAllister. He attended public schools in Hoke County, graduating from Hoke High in 1967. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served honorably from 1969 to 1973. He served a tour of duty in South Korea, and after being discharged, worked for several companies in the area.
He decided to further his education and enrolled in Sandhills Community College where he graduated magna cum allude with an associate degree in Electronics. He attended Fayetteville Technical Community College for a short time. As a result of an accident he was unable to continue gainful employment, but his disability did not affect his ability to contribute to family, friends and the community. He was president of the Laymen's League of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member from an early age.
He is survived by a son, Kendrick Gibson of Asheboro; a daughter, Tolisha Dent (Karseem); a grandson, Kaden Dent of Greensboro; three brothers, John D. McAllister Jr. (Betty), Vincent B. McAllister, and Jason A. McAllister (adopted); a sister, Marverra S. McAllister-Savage; two nephews, Jarmen Savage and Czyz Savage; and a niece, Tatia Long (Ashanti).
The funeral was held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
